"THE BUCK STORY"
Pictured in the insert accompanying the Newsletter is the handing-over of a one dollar bill by the man from Ohio, Dr. Frank Miesse. With grace under fire and eloquence, Dr. Frank Miesse faithfully presented the "buck" to Dr. Watkins commemorating the win of the University of Michigan over the Ohio State University "Buckeyes" football team. His remarks were well received and much appreciated. Thanks Frank!
Note: The Horse Chestnut tree, which grows in abundance in Ohio, produces a spiked seed pod. Inside this pod can be found a seed that looks much like the eye of the buck deer. Hence the reference to "Buckeyes" and the "Buckeye State". Herbalists appreciate the leaves of this tree for promoting circulatory repair.
